About us

Pavilion ELT is the home of Modern English Teacher, ETpedia, the Teaching English series and more! Our aim is to promote best practice, support your professional development and share positive experiences, for teachers throughout their careers, wherever they are in the world.

Pavilion ELT

Pavilion ELT at Pavilion Publishing publishes books and online resources to support and inspire English language teachers, teacher trainers and school managers at any stage of their careers. The products are innovative, flexible and easy-to-use, cover a wide range of issues in specific areas, promote reflective practice, and draw upon real world experiences and expert knowledge so that the readers have tried-and-tested practical examples to base their teaching practice or school improvements on. Each product has been created with the same core philosophy: putting the teacher at the centre of everything we do.

Our books include the Teaching English series, the ETpedia series, the Learning English series and the Communication Games series.

Modern English Teacher

Written by teachers for teachers, Modern English Teacher brings methodology, practical ideas and topical discussions to classrooms across the world. In 2022, Modern English Teacher was merged with English Teaching professional, to create one fantastic resource for teachers at all stages in their career. Subscribers get six bumper-sized magazines each year, alongside thousands of online articles, past issues of both MET and ETp and additional subscriber features.

The MET team has four core values:

  • Sharing professional experiences in a positive, forward-thinking environment
Modern English Teacher is written for teachers and teacher trainers by teachers and teacher trainers, which means that the practical tips, ideas, and ready-to-go activities we bring you are all tried and tested, and the research has been linked to relevant teaching contexts.
  • Reflecting the diversity of the global ELT community
Our readers live in all around the world, so we’re committed to publishing content from an authorship that reflects the breadth of our readers’ experiences and teaching contexts.
  • Making teachers’ day-to-day lives simpler
We provide printable classroom resources with every issue of our magazine, and our MyCPD tool simplifies continuing professional development with online tracking and a one-click export function.
  • More accessibility
Modern English Teacher is a teachers’ magazine, not an academic journal, so we ask our contributors to avoid jargon and weighty prose. Reader-friendly is our watchword. We love receiving submissions from first-time authors, too. Our magazine issues aim to reflect the evolving ELT world so we are always looking for articles to support all learners’ needs, including SEND, and ways to be more-environmentally friendly in our schools and teaching.
